A beautiful reissue of the first automatic wrist watch: The Harwood from 1926.

The original watch invented by John Harwood used a “bumper” automatic movement and a very uncommon way to set the time: by rotating the bezel.

This reissue was made by Fortis around 2000 (estimate) and takes all the visual elements of the 1926 watch with a white tapisserie dial, blued thin leaf hands, roman numerals with railroad minute track.

The stainless steel case has a very welcomed see through back where we can see the gold and decorated automatic caliber ETA 2892-2.

The steel and gold bezel is used, like the original, to set the time. Rotating the bezel will change the color of the dot in the display at 6. Red is normal running mode, gold means that the watch is in time setting mode.

The watch is in overall very good condition. It shows some micro scratches on the polished surfaces that could be removed easily with a light polish.

The watch is numbered 289 (possibly on 1926 made)

It comes on a new blue swede leather strap with the original Harwood signed steel buckle.

The case measures 34mm without crown, 38mm lug to lug, 9mm thick with a 18mm lug width.

It is powered by a automatic caliber ETA 2892-2. It runs well and keeps very good time. The service history is unknown.
