A very special and unique Van Cleef & Arpels Watch from the 2000s
This watch is most likely a prototype.
It was acquired from the estate of a former retailer from Geneva, Switzerland. Part of the lot were prototypes from VC&A (labelled as such).
I haven’t been able to find an identical production model. It would match the Roma collection.
The watch is equipped with an ETA 2892 based GMT movement with a very special feature: Both the hour hand and the GMT hand rotate in 24h instead of 12. This fact also indicates that the watch was not ready to be sold as is, with a regular 12h dial.
The two pushers on the side are a quick-set for the GMT hand.
Excellent overall condition but can have some micro scratches due to storage and handling.
Gold case (most likely plated)
White dial and raised chapter ring
24h bezel (non rotating)
Date subdial at 6
Screwed crown
Case back held with 6 screws and with an original label indicating the references 135 073 / 123 1BD
Signed brown leather strap
Signed gold plated buckle
The case measures 37.5mm without crown, 40mm lug to lug, 12mm thick.
It is powered by an automatic caliber ETA 2892A2 with a GMT module. It runs and keeps time. The functions work. It has not been serviced.
